As a self confessed travel chick, I’m constantly at Hotels, but it’s not often I get the chance to spend twenty four hours at the Mondrian South Beach.
In Miami I’m a Collins Ave kinda girl , and a creature of habit when it comes to breakfast atCecconis, Soho House, so I’ll admit, the thought of a different location- albeit South Beach had me questioning my aptitude for change.
Well, fast forward to my walk through the drive in entrance replete with huge Bell Chandeliers, and into the all white foyer, floor to ceiling white drapes , dramatic black staircase , washed oak chairs and table top bouquets of white hydrangeas.
A quick glass of Prosecco on the terrace people watching overlooking the pool and terrace before I ventured roomward via the Ikat horse adorned elevator. I legit thought a pony ride was an option but alas no, just a 3d transfer.
Scroll on to my room……. more Insta backdrops than you could shake a stick at, from my Greek granny (encaustic) tiled kitchen to the monochrome patterns above my bed. Gotta be honest, jury is still out on the oversized Doll’s face transfer staring at me as I slept . Perhaps Marcel Wanders has the answer to that.
A 5k run the following morning, it was time to take full
insta pic advantage of the double bed loungers overlooking the bay, and lie in wait for the full people watching opportunities to start. Trying not to make a mental note not to eat ever again after seeing the Brazilian bikini sequels supers, I took to listening to the conversations and marvelling at the tans before the afternoon rolled in and my time was up. Cinderella had to leave the ball.
A splendid time had with only one regret………. I never found out the incredible scent that was filtered out wherever I went…… all masculine tones and hints at riches. Next time for sure
