It’s no secret I holiday a lot, it’s a work hard/chill hard mantra in our house. Yup, the “play hard” me has given way to my chilled side………it had to happen eventually.
So it stands to reason I should be the “Don” of packing.
Well yes and no, I admittedly have a “Mary Poppinsesque skill like no other, I can fill a walk in closet with a cabin baggage allowance. But, “capsule packing”, pre thought out outfits that cross reference with other pieces to create multiple outfits? I don’t seem to get that memo.
I pack my summer loves, outfits for warmer climes, I pretty much just grab everything in my summer wardrobe, placing possibly two non necessary items back while patting myself on the back for being so sensible/economical/frugal ( three words you’d never choose for me), and carefully packing the other 2000. There will of course be the piece I forget which I will mentally turn into my favourite item of clothing while I’m away, imagining all the outfits it could complement – I can already see the Harley Davidson tee laying on the fresh laundry pile I missed!
Having discussed the merits of folding vs rolling at a rather drunken soirée on Saturday though, I popped my “Rolling” virginity on this occasion and admit, it does allow you to fit soooo much in…….who knew. So that’s the walk in closet sorted, replete with multiple shoes and no need to stash secret items in Mr WW’s golf bag.
The only obvious downside…….it still weighs that of a small elephant!
